Born: 10 August 1875 Clonina, Co Clare    Died: 20 November 1934    Age: 59 years 3 months 10 days

A distinguished soldier, farmer and politician, Kelly represented Clare in the Dail between 1927 and 1932. Eldest son of Tom Ban Kelly and Bridget Davoren and grandson of the successful catholic landowner, Pat Mor Kelly and Bridget Gibson from Fortview in Co Clare. In 1899 he left Ireland to fight in the Boer War and distinguished himself with honours, returning to Clonina to take over the farm. He married Bridget in 1914. While on his farm in 1934 he died of pneumonia and septicemia. Kelly left a wife and eight children, the youngest of which was just one year old.
