Boundary

It was widely expected that Dublin West would regain the seat it lost when Dublin Mid West was formed, but instead the extra seat goes to its new neighbour, along with South Dublin County Council DEDs of Palmerston Village (3,929) and Palmerston West (8,130). This leaves Dublin West entirely within Fingal County Council and the Liffey as a constituency boundary from Chapelizod to Kildare. By tidying up the southern border along the M50 motorway, it also cedes parts of the Blanchardstown Abbotstown (1,106) DED to Dublin North West, but gains parts of Dubber (706) and The Ward (1,189) DEDs in return. The Kilsallaghan (3,927) DED is transferred from Dublin North to balance the population of the two constituencies.
