On Tuesday 28 August 2018, the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, Eoghan Murphy, confirmed a Presidential Election would be held on Friday 26 October 2018. The incumbent President, Michael D Higgins, had already announced he would seek a second seven year term. The deadline for nominations was 26 September. |
